How does Chengda ensure consistent product quality?

Focusing on grinding balls failures, we will present ChengDa’s solutions and Qutality Control Approach.

  • Premium grinding media can damage the whole system in term of media consumption, grinding efficiency and energy consumption.
  • Expensive grinding media, on the other hand, increases productivity of the system and energy efficiency, and reduces operating costs.

1.Common cast defects & ChengDa solution

The as-cast balls shall be sound without cavity, premature chilling and cold lap. Defects of casting will result in premature breaking down of grinding media when Ball Mill runs.

The casting defects will also have harmful influences in the impact resistance as well as wear resistance of the grinding ball. The effect of the wear  resistance is very important and requires control by an adequate heat treatment stage. Otherwise, one (or more) of the following might happen to the ball as it is struck again and again by the grinding balls:

  • Some of the surface may spall off on a fine scale (micro-spalling.

  • Large fragments of the surface may be caused to spall off (macro-spalling).

  • Ball could also break down the middle.

ChengDa casting ball are high quality and efficiency, fresh out of the metal mould and with no addition treatment, s°that increasing the non-metal & uniform structure time finish than more + fast.\land temperature control at smelting during sff900\.\low power consump very low decrease density influencing product to element detriment over?re checdl in*lined degree \lor£mild abrasion performance. The metal mould and the ChengDa advanced heat treatment technology makes the ChengDa casting ball with good impact fatigue resistance the least abrasive wear.

2.Common forged defects & ChengDa solution

The forged gninding bals need to be free of defects, like flats, pits, soft spotsand cuts. The surface should be smooth. The average diameter between parallel planes on theball surfacesphericity ordeviation from a true sphericalform (out-of-roundness is also animportant step in production control. An instance ofthe defects common in oTHER forged grinding balls.

  • For forged steel balls, the key to determining quality lies in the raw material—round steel bars.
  • Chengda Company sources its round steel bars exclusively from major domestic steel mills, ensuring complete quality assurance.
  • The steel billets are heated in electric furnaces to ensure uniform temperature. Forging with air hammers refines the microstructure, followed by in-line heat treatment and uniform quenching.
  • Chengda forged steel balls exhibit excellent toughness, uniform hardness throughout, and are free from any forging defects.

3.Nonuniform hardness throughout & ChengDa Solution

The hardness of grinding balls impacts the wear resistance. Uniformity of the hardness gradient allows these grinding balls to wear very well. A large gradient of hardness is typically undesired since the softer part will wear faster.

OTHERS grinding balls have the same AVH with Chengda ball. However, at one-third wear, the hardness of OTHERS‘balls is lower than that of Chengda balls. When wear extends to about two thirds of the diameter, the residual one third shows accelerated wear. Grinding balls which wear to such an extent quickly provide an unstable and nonuniform ball layer.

ChengDa heat treatment production line of forging plant adopts computer control to ensure body hardness and uniformity, which can be controlled according to wear and strengthen the surface hardness. In contrast, its cross hardness section profile shows that the ball mill has wear resistance at same depth for all the worn state of service. The effect is that the charge becomes more evenly distributed inside the mill and avoids loss of grinding as occurs in “dead zone” grinding. The wearing balls hardly change their configuration with the result that a remarkably improved grinding efficiency is reached.

High-quality Grinding balls like Chengda always save money in the long run.
